We recommend that you arrive at the airport to check in at a minimum of two hours prior to your scheduled time of departure. Check-in closes forty five (45) minutes before departure. LIAT reserves the right to cancel the reservations of any passenger who does not check-in at least forty five minutes (45) prior to the scheduled or posted departure time of the flight.
It is the passenger's responsibility when making bookings to allow adequate time for baggage collection and rechecking if connecting to another carrier. We recommend at least 150 minutes between international connecting flights.
Passengers who have checked-in for a flight and have received a boarding pass must present themselves at the departure gate and be ready to board their flight no later than thirty (30) minutes prior to departure. Passengers not in the boarding area by this specified time prior to scheduled departure are subject to seat cancellation.
Traveling on the LIAT network is considered International travel. All customers are required to present proof of identity such as a valid government issued photo ID and proof of citizenship such as a passport at the LIAT check-in counter. Passengers must keep proper documentation on their person during travel. It is the passenger's responsibility to ensure that they have in their possession the correct documents needed for travel to any destination. Passengers must also be in possession of a copy of their itinerary as proof of their onward or return journey.
Please be aware that both your checked baggage and carry-on baggage may be subjected to security screening. There are some items which are prohibited in carry on baggage and some items which are prohibited in checked baggage. Generally you are prohibited from carrying dangerous goods, restricted items such as flammable liquids, compressed gases, corrosive, magnetised or radioactive materials, toxic and infectious substances and sharp or other dangerous objects which could be used as weapons aboard the aircraft.
To avoid delays during the passenger screening process, we recommend that you place items such as jewellery, keys, cell phones etc. in your carry on baggage and not on your person. Pack appropriately to avoid inconvenience and delays at security check points.
An infant over seven days old and under twenty four-months of age not occupying a seat is accepted for a fee of US$10.00 per one way trip to most of LIAT’s destinations. For flights into and out of the following ports a fee of USD $20.00 is applicable per one way trip due to governmental taxes levied on infant carriage.
Each infant must be included in the booking of an accompanying adult passenger and this fee does not entitle the infant to a seat on aircraft or checked luggage. LIAT regulations do not permit more than one infant per accompanying adult. If a second infant is to be carried a seat must be purchased for the second infant who must be over 6 months and secured in an approved restraint system.
Accompanying children ages 2 to 11 will be charged the applicable child fare for the flight.
LIAT's Unaccompanied Minor (UM) Policy caters primarily for children from 5 to 11(not yet 12 years). Parents wishing for a young person (YP) 12 to 15 years to travel with supervision, will be allowed to do so as per UM policy.
LIAT will not accept at check in children under 12 who are unaccompanied unless they have a correctly completed UM form with contact information matching the information that is reflected in the LIAT check in system. It must be submitted to the local City Ticket Office or Airport Ticket Office at least three working days prior to travel.Click this link to download a copy of the Unaccompanied Minor Form.
An unaccompanied minor will be charged the applicable child fare for the flight in addition to a service fee of USD $50.00 per one way trip.
Children at least five years of age and up to seven years old are accepted for unaccompanied travel on LIAT flights which do not involve a scheduled change of aircraft (i.e. connecting flights).
Children who are at least eight years of age and up to eleven years old are accepted for unaccompanied travel throughout the LIAT network.
Unaccompanied children must hold confirmed reservations on their intended flight(s).
The unaccompanied child must be brought to the airport by the parent or guardian who must remain at the airport until fifteen (15) minutes after flight departure.
For all children entering Barbados the following also applies:
